IC of Armenia: 127 reports received on voting irregularities on referendum day
During the constitutional referendum held in Armenia yesterday, on December 6, regional units of Armenia’s Investigative Committee received 127 reports about irregularities, most of which were related to information disseminated through the mass media, the press service of IC said.
79 reports concerned irregularities in Yerevan and 48 were related to irregularities in Armenian regions. The IC’s Shirak regional unit received 19 calls, 14 calls were made to Lori unit, 4 – Aragatsotn unit, one call was made to Armavir unit, while Ararat, Vayots Dzor, Gegharkunik, Syunik, and Kotayk units of IC received two calls each.
Calls in Yerevan concerned mainly Avan and Nor-Nork administrative districts (24 calls). The IC units in the other administrative districts of Yerevan received the following number of reports on irregularities: Malatia-Sebastia unit – 15 reports, Ajapniak and Davidashen unit – 9, Kanaker-Zeytun unit– 8, Kentron and Nork-Marash unit – 7, Shengavit – 6, Erebuni unit – 5, and Nubarashen unit received 5 calls.
The investigative units have taken all the necessary measures to check the circumstances indicated in all the reports, with a legal assessment to be made based on the results.
Two criminal cases were opened in connection with voting instead of other people in the December 6 referendum. The cases were opened under Article 153 of the Criminal Code (voting more than once or instead of another person).
