Armenian parliament adopts in first reading amendments to Civil Code
The Armenian parliament voted today to adopt a legislative package in the first reading, including a bill on amendments and additions to the Civil Code of Armenia.
Head of the standing committee on state and legal affairs Hovhannes Sahakyan said that some concerns were voiced during the discussions held.
“But an agreement was reached that the draft law will undergo serious changes before being debated in the second reading,” he said.
Head of ‘Prosperous Armenia’ opposition faction Naira Zohrabyan said for her part that there was enough time to make changes before debating the document in the first reading. She said for this reason they will abstain from voting. “If the necessary changes are made prior to the second reading, we will think about whether to vote or not,” she added.
68 MPs voted for the bill, 17 voted against, with 17 abstentions.
