Avetisyan family murder case to be heard in Russian military base in Gyumri
A judge of the general jurisdiction court in Armenia’s Shirak Province Harutyun Movsesyan took a decision that the first court hearing of the Avetisyan family murder case will be held in the territory of Russian 102nd military base in Gyumri. The accused is Valery Permyakov, a former soldier of Russian 102nd military base.
Lawyer Lusine Sahakyan, a representative of the aggrieved party’s legal successors (Avetisyans’ relatives were recognized as their legal successors), told Panorama.am that they were informed of the decision, but they still do not know how to act.
“We should discuss with our colleagues what to do,” she said.
The hearing of the Avetisyan family murder case is scheduled for December 18.
To remind, a Russian military court held a hearing in the Armenian city of Gyumri on August 12. The court sentenced Valery Permyakov charged with murder of the Avetisyan family to 10 years in high-security prison for desertion and arms theft. During the investigation of the Avetisyan family murder case, the charge against Valery Permyakov, a former serviceman of Russian 102nd military base in Armenia, was toughened on October 16.
According to the press service of Armenia’s Investigative Committee, based on evidence gathered during the preliminary investigation, on October 16 Permyakov was charged under the Armenian Criminal Code’s Article 104 part 2, points 1, 5, 8 (murder), Article 175 part 2 points 3 and 4 (break-in), and Article 34-329 part 1 (attempted violations of the state border of Armenia). V. Permyakov pleaded guilty to the charges.
