Rostelecom invites Armenian journalists to participate in competition ‘Technologies for Life – More Opportunities’

“Rostelecom” and ZTE present the 5th annual International competition for journalists “Technologies For Life - More Opportunities” and remind that the call for applications is open since November 9, 2015.

The competition is held to get the attention of Media and bloggers on objective and better coverage of innovative technologies and services and their applications in different spheres of society. The main prize for the winner will be a trip to ZTE’s headquarters in Shenzhen, China in fall 2016. Approximately 500 representatives of mass media from Russia and Armenia annually take part in the competition, according to the press service of Rostelecom.

"Today Information technologies are not just abstraction, but absolutely utilitarian things. It is hard to imagine at least a day without them. I am pleased to invite all regional journalists to take part in our competition and win!"- said Director of External Communications at PJSC “Rostelecom” Kira Kiryukhina.

The contest is held among all representatives of media that illustrate the scope of IT: print media (newspapers, magazines); radio and television; online media (including news Agencies); social media (bloggers).

The applications for participation are accepted on the official website of the contest - www.smi.rt.ru .

The deadline for applications is April 10, 2016. More information about the conditions of the competition can be found on the following link: www.smi.rt.ru/about.

"In Armenia we still need to illustrate and analyze the IT sphere and the contest even motivates journalists to have more articles and present the sphere deeper. Earlier in June “Rostelecom” and ZTE corporation announced strategic cooperation in Armenia on development and implementation of IPTV/OTT interactive platform, Cloud Technological solutions, Data Transmission High Speed networks and other very long-term projects. Surely, many of the journalists will be eager to get acquainted with the latest technologies of the corporation in China. We wish good luck to all participants!"- said CEO of CJSC “GNC-ALFA”, "Rostelecom” in Armenia, Hayk Faramazyan.

"It is a great honor for ZTE company and the Russian representative office of "ZTE-Svyaztehnologiya" corporation to support "Rostelecom" in this project and introduce to leading journalists and bloggers innovative technologies directly in our headquarters in the city of Shenzhen," - said Senior Vice-President of ZTE corporation in Russia Tigran Poghosyan. "This is especially important now, when our company entered the top five of the world's leading suppliers of telecommunication and terminal equipment, has become a long-term supplier for "Rostelecom" and started an active cooperation with the media in Russia."

Members of the contest Armenian jury are representatives of professional society:

- Emil Tarasyan- Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia
- Bagrat Yengibaryan- Director of Enterprise Incubator Foundation
- Karen Vardanyan- Executive Director of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises of Armenia
- Siranush Gyurjinyan-Head of Public Relations Unit of “Rostelecom” Armenia

The contest among Russian journalists has a four-year history and the participation of Armenian journalists in 2015 changed its status to international. The winner of the competition for 2014-2015 Haykuhi Asatryan,TV journalist, visited Shenchzhen (China) with Russian journalists’ team a few months ago, in October, 2015.

The project is organized by "Rostelecom" in partnership with ZTE and with the information support of leading Russian and Armenian media.
