Armenian police: Any attempt to destabilize situation in public places to be foiled
“The police continue receiving information about intentions to instigate clashes with policemen during the ongoing rallies,” the Armenian Police said in a statement today, on December 11.
“Some of the rally organizers are working actively among their young followers, putting up tents and - under the guise of civil disobedience – committing group actions that disturb the public peace, thus provoking the police into using force against rally participants.
The purpose of such an illegal line of action is to draw a wide public response to the rally and cast a shadow on the lawfulness of police actions.
“The police of the Republic of Armenia warn that any attempt to destabilize the situation in public places will be foiled through relevant police actions appropriate to the situation, while persons responsible for the organization and commitment of offences will be held liable under the law,” the statement says.
