Soldier of Karabakh Defense Army killed by sniper bullet on frontline position
The situation on the frontline remains tense. Azerbaijani troops continue using anti-aircraft guns and mortars to shell positions of Defense Army of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, the press service of NKR Defense Ministry reported.
Yesterday, on December 11, and the night of December 12 Azerbaijan violated the ceasefire about 120 times on the line of contact between the armed forces of Karabakh and Azerbaijan.
During that period Azerbaijani frontline units fired at Armenian positions over 1,100 shots from small arms of various calibers, 60mm (11 shells), 82mm (66 shells) and 120mm mortars (14 shells), and AGS-17 grenade launchers (16 shells). Besides, the enemy used ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft gun (25 shots).
Around 8:40 pm December 11, a serviceman of the NKR Defense Army, Karen Armeni Grigoryan, 20, died of a gunshot wound after being hit by an Azerbaijani sniper’s bullet. The incident took place on a frontline position in a military unit of NKR Defense Army in the eastern direction of the line of contact.
An investigation is underway. Defense Ministry of the NKR expresses condolences to the family, friends, and fellow soldiers of the killed soldier.
Defense Ministry of the NKR said that provocative actions of the Azerbaijani side will not go without a response. The military and political leadership of Azerbaijan bears all responsibility for what has happened.
