NA speaker Galust Sahakyan confuses ‘passive’ deputy with a reporter
Speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly Galust Sahakyan today found himself in an awkward situation when he was asked by reporters if he knows Marine Marabyan.
“I know all the reporters, but I don’t remember their names,” the NA speaker said in response to the provocative question of journalists. Then mass media members reminded him that the matter concerns a member of the faction of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
Galust Sahakyan immediately remembered the female deputy and said: “Yes, it is our Marine Marabyan. She attends sittings quite well, but she is a passive MP”.
The parliament speaker said that the number of cases when Ms. Marabyan was absent did not exceed the permissible limit, while deductions were made from her salary in case of her absence.
