Aghvan Vardanyan considers as futile ANC’s initiative to dispute referendum results in court
The secretary of ARF-Dashnaktsutyun (ARFD) parliamentary faction Aghvan Vardanyan considered as futile the initiative of the head of Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition faction Levon Zurabyan to dispute the results of the constitutional referendum in the Constitutional Court of Armenia.
“It is no use stumbling in the same place”, Vardanyan said. “We have said that repeatedly. We know problems of the electoral system better than anyone,” he said during a briefing in the parliament.
Armenian National Congress has initiated a signature collection campaign to apply to the Constitutional Court to dispute the results of the December 6 referendum on constitutional amendments in Armenia. 10 MPs have joined the ANC’s initiative so far.
The Central Election Commission of Armenia (CEC) on Sunday, December 13, approved the final results of the December 6 constitutional referendum. 825,521 citizens (63.37%) voted for the constitutional reform in Armenia, 421,568 (32.36%) voted against.
