Armenian parliament passes in first reading bill on VAT exemption of sales outlets at checkpoints
At the extraordinary sitting convened on the government’s initiative today, the National Assembly of Armenia voted on the bill on amendments and additions to the Law on Value Added Tax. The bill has passed its first reading – 91 MPs voted in favor, with two abstentions.
Debates on amendments and additions to the Law on VAT began at the extraordinary session of the parliament yesterday, on December 14. The main speaker, First Deputy Minister of Economy Garegin Melkonyan said that by the bill on amendments and additions to the Law on Value Added Tax, the customs procedure of duty free trade shall apply not only to shops at the airports, but also shops at land (border) checkpoints, in particular at checkpoints in the city of Meghri in Syunik province, in the village of Bavra in Shirak province, and the village of Bagratashen in Tavush province.
The bill on approval of 3-year program of state statistical work in Armenia for 2016-2018 was put to the vote in the second reading. It was passed by a vote of 75-5, with 11 abstentions.
The bill on state pensions was passed by a vote of 87-8.
