Defense minister of Armenia attends funeral of soldier Karen Grigoryan killed by Azerbaijani sniper bullet
The funeral of Armenian serviceman Karen Grigoryan was held today in the city of Masis, Armenia’s Ararat province, according to Armenian defense minister’s spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan.
The press service of Armenian Defense Ministry reported earlier that around 8:40 pm on December 11, Karen Grigoryan, a 20-year-old soldier of Defense Army of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, died from a gunshot wound after he was hit by an Azerbaijani sniper’s bullet. The incident occurred on a frontline position of a military unit located in the eastern direction of the line of contact between the armed forces of Karabakh and Azerbaijan. On December 12 President of the NKR Bako Sahakyan signed a decree posthumously awarding For Service in Battle Medal to Karen Grigoryan for bravery during the defense of Karabakh’s state border.
The funeral ceremony was attended by Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, Deputy Defense Minister Ara Nazaryan, and high-ranking military officers.
Seyran Ohanyan presented For Service in Battle Medal awarded by the NKR’s president to the parents of Karen Grigoryan.
