Health Ministry: Effective fight waged against infectious diseases in Armenia
Armenia’s healthcare system is waging an effective fight against the spread of infectious diseases, Armenian Health Minister Armen Muradyan said today during a consultation entitled “The Development Concept of Healthcare System in Armenia in 2016-2021” organized by the ministry with the support of WHO Office in Armenia.
The purpose of the consultation was to discuss the main problems of Armenia’s healthcare sector and sum up the key principles regulating the sector in one document for the coming years.
“This document should confirm and strengthen the ways of developing the healthcare system in line with the instructions of WHO,” Muradyan said, noting that “through the concept’s adoption, we will be able to carry out specific reforms in healthcare based on a relevant roadmap”.
“It is extremely important for us, as a developing country, to implement public health programs, given the fact that they allow avoiding expenses in this area and also to have a healthy society,” the minister noted.
He stressed that it became possible to control the spread of infectious diseases in Armenia thanks to the creation of new centers that provide modern medical services in regional institutions.
“I am sure that the healthcare development concept for 2016-2021 is a promising program that will be appreciated in the future,” the health minister said.
