Armenian ministers to travel economy class during business trips
Work is underway to change the policy of officials’ foreign business trips, in particular, it is planned to introduce a centralized system of booking air tickets from February-March 2016. Minister-Chief of Armenian Government Staff David Harutyunyan said at the government session today. In his words, experience of other countries is being studied, and 3 approaches were proposed:
All employees of state agencies will travel economy class during their business trips, and the cheapest tickets will be purchased;
ministers and heads of the agencies will also travel economy class, expect when the flight lasts longer than 8 hours;
an exception shall be made for members of the Security Council – they will fly business class.
“Of course, this does not prevent the abovementioned persons from buying other tickets, but in that case compensation will not be provided from the state budget,” D. Harutyunyan said.
