Sergey Minasyan: 2017 elections to become major event in Armenia’s contemporary history
“By force of inertia we are still under the influence of the constitutional reform in Armenia, although that phase is already over from a political point of view,” political scientist Sergey Minasyan told a press conference today when discussing the domestic political processes.
He indicated the need to start preparing for a new political reality, in which the 2017 elections will become a major event in Armenia’s contemporary history.
New political alliances can be expected to be formed, Minasyan said. “A new stage of political actions will begin in Armenia, most likely in the spring and summer,” he noted.
As regards the impact of regional developments on Armenia, the political scientist said these events are taking place not far from Armenia: thus, in his words, the Armenian people are involved in the Syrian conflict one way or another.
