Azerbaijanis’ religious leader Pashazadeh does not know what conscience is, does not perform namaz, Azerbaijani politician says
If facts about Allahshukur Pashazadeh are published, no Muslim will believe him anymore, Azerbaijan Democratic Party chairman Sardar Jalaloglu told the newspaper Yeni Musavat, as reported by the Azerbaijani website Minval.az.
According to Jalaloglu, if the prosecution investigates the financial affairs of the Caucasus Muslim Board (CMB), everything will become clear.
“I have always said and will say that a person engaged in trade should not deal with religion, and on the contrary, if they are engaged in religion and science, they should not deal with trade. Why is this idea perceived as provocative and hostile?” he declared.
Jalaloglu reminds of Allahshukur Pashazadeh’s words that ‘for 30 years, he does not know what conscience is, that conscience is the religion itself.’ He says the Sheikh himself confesses that he does not know what means to be linked with religion. Jalaloglu, among other issues, blames Azerbaijan’s religious leader in not performing Friday and holiday namaz and in ‘going to mosque rarely.’
Jalaloglu also said the CMB breaks the Azerbaijani Constitution, according to which only organisations whose members are Azerbaijani citizens can be created and operate in the country.
“The name of the Caucasus Muslim Board clearly suggests that other Caucasus nations, who are not Azerbaijani citizens, are its members. Therefore, Allahshukur Pashazadeh is also responsible for the religious activities of the Chechens in Dagestan, for example, although neither the Russian, nor the Azerbaijani laws allow him to conduct ideological activities and influence on the Russian citizens. The Caucasus Muslim Board is a non-governmental organisation,” Jalaloglu said calling the whole situation ‘abnormal.’
As for the CMB’s compliance with the norms of Islam, Jalaloglu says the organisation is never noticed in fight against injustice. “The mosques are being closed down, CMB keeps silent; Azan is banned, CMB keeps silent; hijabs are banned at school, CMB is again silent; when people face injustice, CMB persistently remains silent again. This indicates that the CMB does not adhere to Quran’s rules,” the Azerbaijani politician highlighted.
Commenting on the recent events in Nardaran, Jalaloglu said that people were killed there because of ‘wrong actions.’ “If the CMB has never been held responsible for any religion-related incident so far, then, what is that office responsible for?” Jalaloglu wondered. He argued that the CMB could have been sued as well, because it was the agency to control religious matters.
This is not the first case Jalaloglu urges to dissolve the Caucasus Muslim Board headed by Pashazadeh claiming that ‘all the problems in the country, related to religious matters, are the fault of the Caucasus Muslim Board, which is incapable to find a way to settle them.’
