Artsrun Hovhannisyan refutes Azerbaijani media’s false information about 10 losses of Armenian side
Citing unnamed Armenian outlets, Azerbaijani website Report.az ran false information that 10 Armenian soldiers were allegedly killed and 20 injured on the line of contact of the armed forces of the NKR and Azerbaijan.
Given that this is far not the first case the Azerbaijani side undertakes an attempt to circulate that sort of false information using similar methods, the forgery was quickly found on the Spokesperson section of the website Mamul.am, where anyone can sign up and post news.
On this case, the pseudonym ‘Anna Katayeva’ was used to post the fake material. As expected, the author had no other publication but for the Azerbaijani fraud. In addition, the authors of the false information cite the website News.am, which has really published today’s press release of the NKR Defence Ministry about the two killed soldiers of the Armenian side. However, News.am’s original material naturally has no mention about ’10 killed and 20 injured.’ The authors of the Azerbaijani fraud attributed that info to News.am.
The spokesperson for the Defence Ministry of Armenia, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, told Panorama.am that the Azerbaijani absurd attempts to leak false information are not even worth commenting. “The whole information about the losses of the Armenian side is reported in its due time, and the killed soldiers receive proper respectful attitude,” he said.
Two weeks ago, the same website undertook another similar attempt to spread false information about a high-ranking military officer of the Defence Ministry of the NKR being allegedly killed during an artillery attack on the posts of the Defence Army of the NKR. On that occasion, the author of the fraud was a fake user with named Aleksan. Later, the high-ranking military officer of the Defence Ministry of the NKR issued a video address denying the Azerbaijani media’s false information about his death.
This is not the first case the Azerbaijani propaganda has used such methods to stuff false information. In August 2015, Azerbaijani news website Oxu.az cited its ‘anonymous reader’ to run false information about a ‘confirmation’ of the Armenian side’s losses during armed clashes, allegedly published on the website of the Armenian newspaper Aravot. The Azerbaijani website attached a faked screenshot of a Russian-language material with grammatical mistakes to its article.
In another case, the Azerbaijani hackers broke the website Tert.am and posted a fake press release of the Ministry of Defence of Armenia about numerous losses the Armenian side suffered on the border. However, the false information was quickly denied. Another text of similar content was posted on the Spokesperson section of Mamul.am, used also earlier by the Azerbaijani propaganda for running false information. Remarkably, the same Russian text was also published on the Armenian and English versions of the website.
