I. Zakaryan: 2014 report of Control Chamber drawn up much better than in previous years
The 2014 report of Armenia’s Control Chamber was drawn up much better from a professional point of view than in the previous years, Chairman of Control Chamber (CC) Ishkhan Zakaryan said at the extraordinary session of the parliament today.
In response to the remark of the leader of Orinats Yerkir faction Heghine Bisharyan that the report last year indicated violations in greater detail, I. Zakarayn said: “As regards details, believe me, the 2014 report was drawn up much better from a professional point of view than in the previous years. This is not only my opinion. Independent organizations also appreciated the work of CC in terms of transparency”.
MP of the opposition ‘Prosperous Armenia’ faction Mikael Melkumyan said that “a strong Control Chamber is needed”. “Control Chamber fulfills one of the most important state functions, and if it lacks politically strong bases, then its functions are restricted to drawing conclusions,” he noted.
Zakaryan said: “In the past two years CC has been studying how credit resources are used. We cannot give a final assessment yet as the programs implemented with those resources are still underway”. He also said that a program next year will be related to control of social services so as to understand if the violations revealed a few years ago have been corrected”.
