Armenian Defense Ministry heads notify OSCE Minsk Group of ceasefire violations by Azerbaijan
On December 19 and the night of December 20 the Azerbaijani side continued provocations and intensive gunfire along Karabakh-Azerbaijan border, despite the support that Commander-in-Chief of the Azerbaijani army Ilham Aliyev expressed at the presidential summit in Bern for the measures of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs aimed at reducing the risk of violence on the line of contact and Armenia-Azerbaijan border, according to the press service Armenian Defense Ministry.
“During that period the enemy used small arms of various calibers, mortars, and numerous cases of tanks’ use were reported. As a result of the retreat of Azerbaijani troops, the enemy increased the depth and intensity of fire. Over 200 cases of firing were reported, with over 1,800 shots being fired. The heads of Armenian Defense Ministry notified Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk of this. A. Kasprzyk for his part provided that information to the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs.
The units of NKR Defense Army are in full control of the situation and respond to the enemy’s encroachments with subduing and targeted counter-blows,” the Ministry said in a statement.
