Karabakh MFA: Baku is not interested at all in the peaceful settlement of the conflict
“We consider it positive that among the main topics of the presidential meeting were the proposals regarding measures to reduce tensions along the Line of Contact, including the establishment of mechanisms to investigate the ceasefire violations,” the spokeswoman for Foreign Ministry of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic Ani Sargsyan said in response to Armenpress news agency’s question: “In spite of the fact that during their meeting on December 19 in Bern the Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents discussed establishment of mechanisms to investigate ceasefire violations, situation on the Line of Contact between the armed forces of Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan remains tense. How would you comment on this?”
“We have repeatedly voiced our support for the elaboration and implementation of such mechanisms, which will allow to reveal the real initiator of the escalation of tensions and to put an end to all speculations. And this, in turn, will contribute to the stabilization of the situation on the Line of Contact and create a constructive atmosphere for negotiations. We hope that the international community will be consistent in putting those mechanisms into action.
Unfortunately, the fact that even after the meeting Azerbaijan continues to grossly violate the ceasefire regime comes to prove that Baku is not interested at all in the peaceful settlement of the conflict,” Ani Sargsyan said.
