Another economic policy should be adopted in Armenia: Vahagn Khachatryan
Everyone understands that in Armenia, unfortunately solution of the existing problem lies not in the economic sphere, economist Vahagn Khachatryan said today during the press conference ‘The Armenian economy amid global challenges”.
He underlined the need to undertake measures that will prompt people to engage in economic activities, to do business. “This requires political steps, not economic ones,” Khachatryan added.
“We need strong authorities who will display political will and carry out the relevant measures,” he noted.
“It is necessary to shift to another economic policy,” the economist stressed.
As for the 2016 state budget of Armenia, he said that 2.2% economic growth was forecast, but he sees no program capable of ensuring the planned growth.
As was reported, at the December 9 session the Armenian government approved the 2016 state budget by a majority of votes. The deficit is planned to make up 3.5% of GDP. By the state budget, real GDP growth is set at 2.2% in 2016.
