2015 was a wonderful year for IT sector: Bagrat Yengibaryan
On the occasion of the New Year and Christmas, on behalf of the head of state, the Armenian presidential residence hosted today a reception for business community members.
Following the reception, Director of Enterprise Incubator Foundation (EIF) Bagrat Yengibaryan told reporters that 2015 was a wonderful year for the IT industry – the sector saw 20 percent growth.
He pointed out that 60 new organizations have been created in the sector.
“This year is noteworthy in the sense that Armenia was indicated on the world map. You know, a number of Armenian products, solutions were considered the best in the world. As the president of the country said today, the private sector plays a very important role in the development of the whole economy,” Yengibaryan said.
In his words, it is no secret that the IT sector is the driver of the economy and will remain Armenia’s competitive advantage in the future as well.
“2016 is going to be a year of large-scale programs in Armenia’s information technology, and these programs will be implemented through state-private sector cooperation. As the president noted, the state will participate considerably in those projects as balanced long-term steps will allow us to achieve further success in the IT sector,” Bagrat Yengibaryan said.
