Artem Asatryan: Armenian government declared 2016 a year of equal opportunities for people with disability
The problems of people with disability are at the center of the Armenian government’s attention, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artem Asatryan said at a press conference today.
In his words, quotas of hiring people with disability were established in Armenia for state-funded organizations on January 1, 2015 and for non-state-funded organizations from January 1, 2016.
If an organization fails to meet the quota, it shall pay a sum in the amount of 300 minimum wages – 300,000 drams, the minister said.
According to him, the policy of the Armenian government and the state target programs are aimed at integrating people with disability in society by providing equal rights and opportunities. “I think their potential can be fulfilled to a greater extent in this way,” Asatryan said, adding that 2016 was declared by the Armenian government a year of equal opportunities for people with disability.
