 Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan sent today a congratulatory message on the occasion of New Year and Christmas, the press service of Armenian Defense Ministry said.

"In 2015, Armenian Army brilliantly fulfilled its mission to protect the borders of the motherland in armed attacks,” the minister said stressing that the year 2015 was full of heroism,  with an unprecedented number of enemy sabotage groups being defeated, but unfortunately, there were irrecoverable losses, which “we all grieve, and now we stand by the relatives of the dead soldiers with all our heart and soul”.

We are bidding farewell to the year when Azerbaijan used Turkish -made tanks and anti¬aircraft guns this or the first time since the ceasefire regime,” the minister said adding that "this was followed by a resolute answer, and always will, as long as all the narrow-minded fail to understand that they cannot use the language of force with us, just as they were unable to do so in the years of the Karabakh war. But the greatest guarantee of this is the unity and tolerance that we should cherish and maintain, "¬ the minister said.

In his words, in parallel to that, great success was achieved in strengthening the armed forces, a lot of work has been done to improve the security of the border and the fighting efficiency of the personnel, engineering work and construction of barracks continued, and many soldiers will see in the New Year in new apartments.

The minister  presented the work done in 2015. He in particular  mentioned the strategic military exercises "Shant¬2015", exercises "Indestructible Brotherhood 2015", as well as  the international youth gathering "Union 2015: The Heirs of Victory".

Seyran Ohanyan also addressed cooperation with the USA, NATO, peacekeeping missions in Lebanon, Afghanistan, Kosovo and Mali.

"Dear compatriots, I cannot promise that the enemy will not launch new attacks anymore, but I can assure you that everything will be done to ensure the safety of our soldiers on the frontline and defend the Motherland. Nobody is going to grant us a peace, but believe me our 18 and 20 year old sons will finally seal our victory. No one can take it away from us. Honor and glory to the Motherland defenders who gave their lives for it, since the times of Karabakh war and to this day! Honor and glory to the inhabitants of border settlements! Honor and glory to the Armenian soldier and army! ", ¬Seyran Ohanyan’s message says.
