Some roads closed and barely passable in Armenia due to snowstorm, low visibility
It was snowing as of 10:30 am today, on January 6, in the cities of Abovian, Hrazdan, Sevan, Gavar, Ararat, Yeghegnadzor, Vayk, Maralik, Gyumri and Ashotsk, Armenian Ministry of Transport and Communication said.
Several motorways such as Goris-Sisian, Artik-Mantash, Artik-Maralik, and Sevan-Gavar motorways and the road to the tunnel from Sevan to Dilijan are barely passable due to a snowstorm and low visibility.
Chambarak-Drakhtik motorway is open after large-scale snow removal operations.
Vardeniats mountain pass, Berd-Chambarak motorway remain closed due to heavy snowstorm and low visibility. Serpentine roads in Dilijan are covered with black ice.
Snow and ice removal operations are underway to ensure safe driving conditions.
