Black ice reported on some roadways in Armenia
Most roads in Armenia were passable as of 10:00 am today, January 12, according to the press service of Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations.
Areni-Khachik motorway (at 8th-9th km) in Vayots Dzor province is closed in one direction due to the blowing up of the dangerous part of a mountain and a possible rockslide. Drivers should use a bypass rural road – Noravank-Amaru-Khachik.
Sotk-Karvachar motorway and Vardeniats mountain pass are barely passable.
Several motorways such as Yeghegnadzor-Elpin, Vayk-‘Zanger’, ‘Zanger’-Sisian and Goris-Sisian (10th-15th km), Chayni passes of Yerevan-Sevan highway and the passes in Jajur are covered with black ice.
The ministry urges drivers to use the abovementioned roads only in case of emergency.
