In Armenia, products imported from Turkey and Pakistan are considered as high risk product
Experts of Rosselkhoznadzor (Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance) found 39.39 tons of cabbage that was imported from Turkey and infected with flower thrips, according to the Russian mass media. The cabbage found in January 2016 is not on the list of Turkish products, on which Russian sanctions were imposed.
Given the fact that Armenia imports a lot of vegetables from Turkey, Panorama.am asked State Food Safety Service (SFSS) of Armenian Agriculture Ministry if any cabbage has been imported from the neighboring country.
A spokeswoman for SFSS, Nvard Arakelyan, said that the last time when 150 kg of cabbage was imported from Turkey was in April last year.
“In Armenia, products imported from Turkey and Pakistan are considered as high risk products,” Arakelyan said.
As was reported, on the instructions of SFSS Head Armen Hayrapetyan, since April 1, 2015, fruit and vegetables imported to Armenia from Turkey and Pakistan are sent for laboratory tests.
