Energy minister: Georgia-Gazprom talks on gas transit will not lead to problems for Armenia
The issue of Iran’s gas supplies to Georgia through the territory of Armenia was not discussed at the recent four-way talks in Yerevan, Armenia’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Yervand Zakharyan said during a briefing following the government session today when commenting on press reports about that.
In his words, the Armenian side is aware of the talks between Russia’s Gazprom Company and Georgia, but there is no information about any concrete results.
Zakharyan also commented on the information that Tbilisi wants to change the former agreements with Gazprom and receive money – and not 10% of the transported gas - as a payment for transit of Russian gas to Armenia through its territory.
“This will not lead to any problems for Armenia. It is an internal issue of Georgia and Gazprom,” the minister said.
