Turkey: Blast at Armenian Tarkmancas School in Istanbul
A blast occurred early Wednesday, January 13, near St. Mary Church and Armenian Tarkmancas School in Ortakoy district of Istanbul, Ermenihaber.am reported citing Haberturk news agency that said there was a blast in a manhole sending a 60-kilogram manhole cover flying into the air.
There were no reports about killed or injured people, but the incident caused horror and panic among residents. Police and water and gas repair crew were dispatched to the scene.
The experts examined the scene and said that the blast was probably caused by methane gas that accumulated in the manhole. An investigation is underway.
