Gagik Makaryan on reason of recession in Armenia’s construction sector
The recession in Armenia’s construction sector in recent years is due not only to the declining purchasing power of the population, but also an incorrect policy, Chairman of the Union of Employers Gagik Makaryan told a press conference today.
“There is not much difference in the construction industry in 2014 and 2015. The situation on the real estate market can be described as stagnation due to an incorrect policy. The tax collection mechanism is such that a construction firm starts paying taxes without completing the construction work. The construction and sale of a building takes 5 years,” he said.
Makaryan stressed at the same time that according to data of Armenia’s National Statistical Service, in 2015 growth was recorded in such sectors of the Armenian economy as industry, agriculture, and services.
