S. Minasyan: Azerbaijan to distract attention from domestic problems by provocations on borders with Armenia , NKR
The ongoing global developments have had a direct impact on the South Caucasus, including Armenia, political scientist Sergey Minasyan said at a press conference today.
“Armenia is now involved directly and indirectly in the Syrian crisis. Russia-Turkey standoff has also affected our country,” Minasyan said.
As for Azerbaijan, S. Minasyan said Baku will attempt to distract attention from the domestic political tension by making provocations on the line of contact between the armed forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“But can Ilham Aliyev start new, large-scale hostilities in the existing situation? I rather doubt that because his position and influence in the country have considerably weakened in the past few months,” the expert noted.
