Armenian Composers 7th Festival Mirzoyan-FEST with violinist Sergey Khachatryan’s participatioin starts in Armenia
Armenian Composers 7th Festival Mirzoyan-FEST dedicated to the 95th anniversary of composer Edward Mirzoyan’s birth started in Armenia on January 15.
The State Youth Orchestra of Armenia (SYOA) and the Union of Composers of Armenia are the festival organizers. Since its inception the festival has been held under the high patronage of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, with the support of Ministry of Culture of Armenia.
The press service of SYOA said that Mirzoyan-FEST opened with Edward Mirozyan’s Symphony for String Orchestra and Timpani and Kachatur Martirosyan’s ‘Awakening’ work and Concert-Fantasia for Violin and Orchestra (violinist Sergey Khachatryan was the soloist). Martirosayn dedicated Concert-Fantasia to Sergey Khachatryan. It was performed for the first time.
The festival is taking place ahead of the 10th anniversary of State Youth Orchestra of Armenia.
State Youth Orchestra of Armenia was founded in 2005 by Sergey Smbatyan who has ever since been its artistic director and principal conductor. The annual Armenian Composers’ Art Festival has been held since 2010 on the initiative of SYOA under the high patronage of Armenian President Sargsyan. The annual Aram Khachaturian Festival was initiated in 2013 with the support of Culture Ministry.
