Powers of Karen Andreasyan as Armenian Human Rights Defender terminated today
The National Assembly of Armenia has received a second application from Armenia’s Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) Karen Andreasyan about his resignation, according to the press service of the Armenian parliament.
Pursuant to Article 6 part 3 of the Law on Human Rights Defender, the issue of an early termination of HRD’s powers shall be submitted to the National Assembly for consideration. The upcoming sitting of the Armenian parliament is due on February 1.
The Ombudsman Office earlier said that the powers of Karen Andreasyan as human rights defender of Armenia will be terminated today as he presented on Monday a second application for resignation.
