Gagik Surenyan: January 18 temperatures are highest on record in two Armenian cities
January 18 temperatures in two Armenian cities – Kapan and Ijevan were the highest on record, Deputy Head of the weather service of Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations Gagik Surenyan wrote on his Facebook page.
According to him, a warm air mass of a Mediterranean cyclone has moved into Armenia.
Temperatures reached a record high for January in Kapan where +20 degrees C was recorded and in Ijevan +17 degrees C.
According to Surenyan, precipitation is expected occasionally in Armenia in the form of sleet in valleys and foothills and snow in mountainous areas. On January 19 winds could reach 25-30 meters per second in some regions of Armenia, and a snowstorm is forecast in mountains and passes. Temperatures will drop by 3-5 degrees on January 20.
