Charles Aznavour’s daughter asks Armenian president to “free satirist Vardan Petrosyan”
Seda Aznavour, the daughter of world-famous French-Armenian singer-songwriter Charles Aznavour, sent a letter to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan with a request to free satirist Vardan Petrosyan who is serving a prison sentence, according to Nouvelles d’Armenie. V. Petrosyan currently works from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. He returns to prison at 8:00 pm and remains there until 8:00 am. Today is the 785th day since he was arrested.
“In her letter to Serzh Sargsyan, Seda Aznavour in particular wrote: “Dear Mister President! You are a friend of my famous father who has made so many efforts for Armenia’s wellbeing. Could you make his daughter Seda happy by releasing Vardan Petrosyan? He has already repaid his debt. I will be very grateful if you grant my request. My best regards to you and your wonderful family. Seda Aznavour”.
To remind, on January 29, 2015, the general jurisdiction court of Armenia’s Kotayk province passed a sentence in the case of a road accident involving Vardan Petrosyan. The accident happened on Yerevan-Yeghvard highway on October 20, 2013. V. Petrosyan received 5 years in prison. He also had his driver’s license suspended for two years. Petrosyan was charged under Article 242 part 3 of the Criminal Code – violation of traffic and vehicles operation rules, which caused death of two or more people by negligence.
