Gagik Surenyan: Temperatures to drop sharply in Armenia
The weather will change dramatically in Armenia in the next few days as a new powerful cyclone is moving into the country, Panorama.am learned from Gagik Surenyan, Deputy Head of the weather service of Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations.
According to him, precipitation is expected in most regions of Armenia on Saturday (January 23) afternoon and evening, and January 24-26. Sleet is forecast in valleys on January 23-24. Winds could reach 20-25 meter per second in some areas of the country on January 24-25. Snowstorms, low visibility, and icy conditions on roads are expected in some places.
A cold Arctic air mass will move into Armenia on the evening of January 24, and temperatures are expected to gradually fall by 12-15 degrees, Surenyan said.
Snow is expected across Armenia on January 25-26. Heavy precipitation is forecast for January 24 and 25.
Temperatures during that period will drop to minus 26 C in mountainous regions and minus 16 C in the capital city of Yerevan.
