Gyumri zoo bears moved to Yerevan for medical checkup
Two bears of the Gyumri mini zoo were moved to Yerevan zoo on the night of January 22 for medical checkups. After a short period of restoring them to good health, the two bears will be transported to a European animal rehabilitation center, according to the press service of Armenian Ministry of Nature Protection.
The private mini zoo in the Armenian city of Gyumri was founded in 2010. The owner left it in a state of neglect. Environmental volunteers – with the support of some individuals - have cared for the zoo inhabitants that include three lions and two bears. The animals will soon be moved to Romania for treatment and rehabilitation, the volunteers said.
