Swine flu and acute respiratory infection cases on the decline in Armenia: Health ministry
There was a seasonal rise in acute respiratory infections in Armenia in January 2016, according to the press service of Armenia Health Ministry.
Thanks to preventive measures and increased awareness of the population, the current situation is stable regarding hospitalizations due to acute respiratory infections and pneumonia, and the number of patients applying to outpatient clinics and policlinics and ambulance calls has considerably declined.
An epidemiological analysis showed that the number of pregnant women taken to hospitals fell by 50%. The number of patients having acute respiratory infections fell by 27% compared to the second week of January. The number of visits to polyclinics declined to a third of the previous number.
“In view of the aforesaid, a conclusion can be made that flu and acute respiratory infection cases are on the decline in the past week,” the ministry said in a statement.
