Government carries out optimization through staff reduction
An optimization process is underway in the Armenian government, with some departments and inspectorates adjunct to the government being closed down. A source in the government told Panorama.am that over two dozen institutions were closed down, and those measures are part of the reforms in the government system.
The editorial office received calls from parents complaining that monthly child care benefits of 18,000 drams for children under the age of 2 years have not been paid this month because ‘the State Social Security Service that distributes those benefits will be dissolved”.
According to the government source, the existence of inspectorates adjunct to various ministries is considered a ‘terror instrument’ that “involves additional corruption risks”. Besides, they are overstuffed and the government’s task is to get rid of “defective units”.
The same source said the aim is to ensure qualified staff in the government system, while the government will spend the saved money on additional payments of highly skilled experts.
How such ‘defective units’ were set up in the government, how much was spent on training their staff, and what will become of those civil servants and their contracts – we will learn from official answers.
