PACE President Anne Brasseur: Discussion of reports on Karabakh probably will not take place
The winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe started in Strasbourg today. The winter session will be held on January 25-29.
Prior to the start of the session, PACE President Anne Brasseur - whose term ends today – gave a press conference and responded to the questions of reporters.
The correspondent of Panorama.am reported from Strasbourg that when presenting the PACE agenda, Anne Brasseur said that two anti-Armenian reports on Nagorno Karabakh are included in the agenda - “Escalation of violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and the other occupied territories of Azerbaijan” and “Inhabitants of frontier regions of Azerbaijan are deliberately deprived of water”. Discussion and votes on both reports are scheduled for January 26.
Anne Brasseur, however, added that there have been a lot of proposals not to hold discussions of the abovementioned draft resolutions
According to President of the PACE, it is up to the Assembly to take a final decision about whether or not to discuss the drafts or to send them back to the committee.
