Tevan Poghosyan: We need to adopt strategy of initial blocking of anti-Armenian reports in PACE
It is necessary to direct the problems related to the Sarsang reservoir into the right course so that the Armenian side could use any phenomenon to their own advantage, MP of opposition faction ‘Heritage’ of the Armenian parliament Tevan Poghosyan told Panorama.am. Tevan Poghosyan was among the Armenian delegation members participating in the ongoing winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg.
PACE earlier today voted on the two reports. “Inhabitants of frontier regions of Azerbaijan are deliberately deprived of water” – a scandalous report prepared by Milica Markovic, MP from Bosnia and Herzegovina - was adopted by 98 votes to 71, with 40 abstentions. Another controversial report that drew a wide response - “Escalation of violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and the other occupied territories of Azerbaijan” prepared by British MP Robert Walter who holds Turkish citizenship, was rejected in a 66-77 vote.
“We are very grateful to all those who have worked during this period, for the fact that we now have at least such a result. This should also be a lesson for us regarding the kind of work to be done in the future,” T. Poghosyan said.
He added that “we should cold-bloodedly examine the shortcomings and adopt a strategy of future actions to prevent the emergence and advancement of anti-Armenian reports”.
