Irates: Gagik Jangiryan may become ombudsman of Armenia
‘Irates’ paper writes that member of Armenian National Congress (ANC) Party Gagik Jangiryan may become Armenia’s new ombudsman. “This may happen for two reasons - the authorities will try to weaken ANC ahead of the parliamentary elections so that this party could not enter the parliament.
“Secondly, in case of Jangiryan’s appointment, Saribek Sukiasyan, the brother of businessman Khachatur Sukiasyan, will get into the parliament on the party list. It is no secret that Khachatur Sukiasyan has long aimed to cooperate with the authorities. Our sources, however, virtually rule out Jangiryan’s appointment as ombudsman since the Unites States needs a Western-oriented human rights defender,” the paper says.
