Armenia celebrates 24th anniversary of formation of its armed forces
Army Day is celebrated in Armenia on 28 January to commemorate the formation of the armed forces of the newly independent Republic of Armenia in 1992.
The historic Decision on Defense of the Republic of Armenia was taken on January 28, 1992, declaring the formation of the Armenian National Army.
Army Day has been an official holiday in Armenia since 2001 when second Armenian President Robert Kocharyan signed on January 6, 2001, the Law on Holidays and Memorable Days of the Republic of Armenia.
In January 2012 the Armenian Army celebrated its 20th birthday. Experts say that the Armenian Army can be rightly considered the most efficient in the region.
