David Amalyan: Soldier at his army post is an intellectual to us
“We have lost many values in the years of independence, but we preserved the most important things – Artsakh and the Armenian army,” literary critic David Gasparyan said.
In his words, the current geopolitical situation, endless wars show that the Armenian army should be combat-ready and every effort shall be made to strengthen the army and keep its morale high.
Another participant of the press conference – Karabakh war veteran, composer David Amalyan recalled that their detachment was called a ‘chickens’ detachment’ as it mostly included 15-17-year-olds. “It was a fairy-tale past. But we would not like that fairy tale to repeat itself”.
According to him, when a soldier is at his army post, he defends his county, his family, and the homeland. “The soldier at his frontline post is an intellectual to us. God grant peace will return, and he will do his job in a more spiritual sense”. Amalyan called the army that never ends – “generations come and go in the army, both positive and negative phenomena exist, the weapons become obsolete and are replaced with new ones”.
