What screenings travelers get at Armenian airports, entry points: Health Ministry
Vahe Hakobyan, acting head of the staff of Armenian Health Ministry, has answered questions of Panorama.am about screenings that travelers to Armenia get at airports and other entry points.
Q: Given the high number of flu cases in Armenia, what screenings do those visiting Armenia get at airports and border crossings?
A: Stricter screening began at the state border crossings in connection with the Ebola virus, MERS-CoV, and the poliovirus. Passengers arriving in Armenia in the recent period have their temperatures taken by remote sensors and are also asked questions. If necessary, preventive, medical and restrictive measures are taken.
Under international and Armenian sanitary laws, no preventive, medical and restrictive measures are envisaged for passengers arriving in Armenia during an outbreak of flu and acute respiratory infections.
Q: What about results? How many patients were reported between December 1 and January 25?
A: Since December 1, 2015 there have been only a few cases when travelers arriving in our country were found to run a temperature. There were no suspicious cases requiring an international-level emergency.
Q: What measures are taken if a person coming to Armenia is ill?
A: We immediately inform the policlinic in the place of residence so that the patient could receive medical care.
