H1N1 virus has not mutated, swine flu retreats, Armenian health minister says
There has been a 50% drop in the number of patients hospitalized with swine flu (H1N1) virus, Armenian Health Minister Armen Muradyan said in the parliament today in response to a question of MP Vahe Enfiajyan.
“There has also been a 70% drop in pregnant women with swine flu. At the moment the number we have in Armenia is approaching the limits of seasonal influenza,” Muradyan said.
According to him, 570 patients with acute respiratory infections and about 300 ones with pneumonia are being treated in hospitals. During this period about 3,300 people have been discharged after receiving treatment in hospitals. The minister said the H1N1 virus is dangerous when people infected with it develop complications. The swine flu death toll is 19 – those patients with H1N1 virus had other complications.
Muradyan told reporters that the H1N1 virus has not mutated. “We sent samples to two laboratories in London and Russia, and they confirmed that no mutation occurred,” he said.
