Yerevan to host Armenian-Chinese Culture Days
The Chinese New Year or the Spring Festival is the most important festival in the Chinese culture. In this connection Armenian-Chinese Culture Days will be held in Yerevan in February. The organizers are Armenia’s Traditional Wu Shu Federation, Sanguan Health Center, and the Center of Chinese Science and Culture.
Wu Shu Federation’s Head Tigran Zohrabyan told reporters that as ancient nations, both the Armenians and the Chinese have old values and share similarities , even in martial dances.
“During Cultural Days, we will aim to show the cultural similarities and promote a healthy lifestyle. The events will have a good impact if they are presented properly and understood by the public. They will become traditional,” he said, adding that as part of the Culture Days, master classes in martial arts and culture will be conducted.
“We would like to show the similarities between the two cultures and help people make use of treasures of the Chinese culture, their knowledge in healthcare, martial arts, culture, other areas,” Chairman of the Council of Armenia’s Traditional Wu Shu Federation, founder of Sanguan health center Robert Vardumyan said.
Director of Yerevan-based Center of Chinese Science and Culture Ms. Isabella Muradyan for her part stressed the importance of studying the Chinese people’s ideas and experience and spoke about centuries-old cooperation of Armenia and China.
Six events are scheduled to take place during Culture Days. The first one will take place on February 8 at the Union of Architects of Armenia and feature traditional Chinese music and dances. The second event entitled “Create Your Own Calligraphy” is due in the same building on February 11.
An event involving Chinese tea drinking and testing of Armenian herbal extract is scheduled to take place at Akumb (Club) on February 15.
A documentary about archeological finds and little-known historical facts will be screened at the Union of Architect on February 18.
Lectures on Chinese hieroglyphs and Armenian letters will be delivered by Amali Begkaryan and Hovakim Saghatelyan at Akumb on February 22.
“Armenian Military Dances: Culture and Military Spirit” is due at the Union of Architects on February 25.
