Lilit Davtyan brings Grand Prix home
At the international academic singing competition held in Yekaterinburg, Russia, Lilit Davtyan representing Armenia won the Grand Prix. She amazed the jury with ‘Oror’ by Armenian composer Komitas, ‘How nice it is here’ by Rakhmaninov, ‘Vado, ma dove O Dei’ by Mozart, and La danza by Rossini.
Lilit said in an interview with Panorama.am that the competition held from January 27 to February 2 brought together 130 participants under 20 from various countries. Lilit and another 29 contestants were included in the age group of 15-18 years old.
Lilit said she likes to perform various works, but she finds those composed by Komitas as most close to her soul. “It was ‘Oror’ that the jury members said dazzled them”.
Lilit sings and plays the piano. She will graduate from Yerevan’s Sayat Nova Musical School this year. She wants to study at the Piano Department of Komitas State Conservatory in Yerevan, and a year later to hone her singing skill at the Vocal Department. She has won various awards as a singer and pianist at international and republican competitions.
Lilit attaches much importance to participating in international contests and festivals which help her improve her knowledge and skills. “I was happy to represent Armenia and uphold the honor of my country,” she said.
