Gas price cut is not only a necessity, but also an opportunity: Armenian PM
“For Armenian business entities, it is important that energy prices do not hinder the competitiveness of their products so we are interested that Gazprom Armenia, which is essential infrastructure in our country, will be a stable and reasonably profitable company,” Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan said at the government session today.
He added that on the other hand, the population and the economy need affordable prices.
“A decline in gas consumption obviously shows that the company will get more revenues in case of lower prices. I think the management of Gazprom Armenia has much work to do in order to present the logic of this business to the public as well as their superiors. As a result, the company and Russia will realize the mutually beneficial nature of our proposal at the talks,” the PM said.
In the light of geopolitical developments, it is evident that a cut in gas price is both a necessity and an opportunity, H. Abrahamyan said.
