Armenian cheese exports continue unimpeded
The temporary restrictions imposed by Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance does not apply to processed meat and dairy products exported from Armenia, according to State Food Safety Service (SFSS) of Armenian Agriculture Ministry.
“There have been media reports that no cheese is exported to Russia from Armenia, although the Service released data on Armenian cheese exports recently.
SFSS said that the temporary ban does not impede exports of any products from Armenia. Since January 20 when the ban was imposed, 408 tons 757 kilograms of cheese was exported from Armenia to Russia compared to exports of 123 tons 299 kg of cheese in the same period of last year.
On January 26 Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance provided a similar explanation, saying that there are no restrictions on cheese export and that a ban on heat-treated dairy produce was also previously in effect,” SFSS said in a statement.
