Over two dozen films to be screened during Web Tsiran festival
The 5th All-Armenian Online Film Festival ‘Web Tsiran’ (Web Apricot) has received 21 applications. “No preliminary selection has been made, all the submitted films are being screened,” Raffi Movsisyan – a film critic, program coordinator of Golden Apricot Film Festival – told Panorama.am.
The deadline for submission of films ended on January 25. The submitted films are being shown from February 1 to February 29 on webtv.am, a cultural Internet television.
Movsisiyan said that this year the number of presented films has increased by three, but there are no qualitative changes.
"Most participants are young filmmakers. There are no genre restrictions. The festival aims to create a platform for promotion of cinema,” he said adding that the festival organizers encourage participants to submit short films shot with cellphones, tablets and smartphones.
The festival has been organized by Golden Apricot International Film Festival and webtv.am cultural Internet TV, with VivaCell-MTS Company as their general partner.
The results of Web Tsiran will be released within the first ten days of March 2016 during a special awards ceremony, with the results summarized by a professional jury. There will be one main prize and two encouragement prizes. The main winner will receive 400,000 AMD and a special certificate. The other winners will be granted certificates. All of them will be provided with the opportunity to use free of charge filmmaking devices for ten days. The most viewed film will receive “Sympathy” prize and a special certificate.
