VivaCell-MTS is the first mobile operator sending SMS messages to its subscribers in Armenian
February 7 has been declared the Day of using Armenian letters on the network. The initiative aims at preventing the loss of Armenian writing in the century of electronic communication. VivaCell-MTS has been always at the forefront of promoting the use of Armenian language. The Company is the first telecommunications operator to have come up with a technological solution to empower subscribers to enjoy the benefits of receiving communication in native language, according to the press service of VivaCell-MTS.
On July 11, 2015, VivaCell-MTS introduced innovation thanks to which VivaCell-MTS subscribers using smartphones are able to receive SMS notification messages sent by the Company in Armenian characters. Likewise, subscribers who previously used to receive a transliterated version of notification messages in Russian, started receiving them in Cyrillic (Russian) characters.
Smartphone users receive SMS notification messages in the language, which was initially configured upon their choice. The innovation is not of a commercial nature.
Also, VivaCell-MTS subscribers, who choose to settle invoice and refill prepaid account at the Company’s service centers receive SMS notifications about transaction details on their mobile phones. As in the case of other SMS notification messages sent by the Company, subscribers using smartphones receive SMS notifications about the transaction details in Armenian, English or Russian characters, depending on the initial configuration, which can be changed on demand.
